RULES Felting is really fun! There are some important rules that you have to follow.

Rule 1: Knit the project about twice as large as you want the finished size to be, because it will shrink.
Rule 2: The yarn needs to be 80% to 90% wool. Some wools have been treated to prevent them from shrinking. Read the labels.
Rule 3: When you wash the project the water needs to be hot. I set my washer on hot wash and cool rinse. It worked very well.
Rule 4: After I took the bag out of the washing machine I stuffed it with some plastic packing bubbles while it dried. This gave it some shape.

BAG INSTRUCTIONS Skill level: Intermediate

Step 1: Using 2 strands of the yarn color 1, wind the yarn all the way around the loom in a single stitch.
NOTE: Keep the yarn loose as you knit. Knit 6 rows and pull the first row back up and around the pegs (like making a brim on a hat). This will make the top edge of the purse.
Step 2: Knit 6 more rows.
Step 3: Change to the yarn color 2 and knit 3 rows.
Step 4: Change back to the yarn color 1 and knit 3 rows.
Step 5: Change back to the yarn color 2 and knit 3 rows.
Step 6: Change to the natural yarn and knit 6 rows.
Step 7: Change to the yarn color 2 and knit 3 rows.
Step 8: Change to the yarn color 1 and knit 3 rows.
Step 9: Change to the yarn color 2 and knit 3 rows.
Step 10: Change to the yarn color 1 and knit 6 rows.
Step 11: To close up the bottom end of the purse, take the loops from one side of the loom and place them on the pegs on the other side of the loom. Knit these stitches over and crochet the last row off of the loom.

HANDLE INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: The handles are knit using the Spool Loom (the smaller end) and 2 strands of the yarn color 1.
Step 2: Knit the handles until they are 20" long.
Step 3: Take the handle tube off the loom by threading the end of the yarn through the loops on the pegs and pulling up tight.
Step 4: Thread this end into the starting end and stitch in place.
Step 5: Make two of these.
Step 6: Using the illustration as a guide, stitch the handles to the top of the bags.
