Provo Craft's Cindy Wilson Honored for Helping Parents of NICU Babies Preserve Memories

SPANISH FORK, Utah--May 14, 2008--Cindy Wilson, executive administrator/special projects manager at Provo Craft, will receive a service award by Parent to Parent for her efforts in helping parents of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) babies preserve memories during their hospital stay.

With the worry and hectic environment that typically comes with an at-risk birth, new parents often are too worried or stressed to take time to preserve the moment. Wilson spends a significant amount of her free time providing the parents with projects and materials that can help capture memories and give parents a welcome distraction from the stress.

Bringing a new child into the world is always such a chaotic event, but its even more so if the baby needs help to get a healthy start, Wilson said. What I try to do is give the parents something they can enjoy, keep and share without having to shift their focus from supporting the child. I'm honored by the award and I hope it encourages more people to volunteer and support these families.

Parent to Parent has programs in 35 states dedicated to parent-to-parent support services for parents of children, adolescents, or young adults with special health care needs, mental health issues, or disabilities. The Recognition Award is given out each year to a Parent to Parent volunteer that best exemplifies the selfless devotion that typifies the national organization.

Cindy portrays the type of person we look for at Provo Craft, said Jim Thornton, CEO of Provo Craft. We are extremely proud of her example and commitment to helping others in time of need.
