Provo Craft's Cricut Expression Receives Honorable Mention at Utah Innovation Awards
 SPANISH FORK, Utah--May 29, 2008--Provo Craft's Cricut Expression™ 24" Personal Electronic Cutter received an honorable mention in the Mechanical Devices category of the 2008 Stoel Rives Utah Innovation Awards.
The Stoel Rives Utah Innovation Awards recognize significant high-tech innovations and the companies that make them. The winners are decided by a panel of more than 60 professionals from Utahs business, technology and academic communities, all with technical experience pertaining to one of the programs eight categories.
Its gratifying to be recognized by experts both inside and outside of the craft, hobby and education industries, said Tonia Conger, director of marketing for Provo Craft. Were pleased the uniqueness and value of the Cricut is being acknowledged by this prestigious organization.
The Cricut Expression machine is a personal electronic cutting system that enables users to customize letters, shapes, and phrases from cartridges and cut them from most types of paper, vinyl, and thin plastic with the touch of a button. Each cartridge contains the equivalent of hundreds of cutting dies. The Cricut Expression machine allows for larger cuts than the original Cricut machine, and offers more creative functions.
Winners were announced at the Awards Luncheon on May 21, 2008 at the Marriott City Center on 220 S. State Street in downtown Salt Lake City.
The announcement continues a streak of recognition for Provo Craft, including consecutive Best New Product awards from the readers of Creating Keepsakes for the original Cricut and Cricut Expression machines. CEO Jim Thornton and CECO Robert Workman were both named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Consumer Products in the Utah region in 2007. Workmans Tifie Humanitarian effort was given special recognition by the craft & hobby industry earlier this year for empowering entrepreneurs in Africa.
