 One of our coolest new releases at CHA Winter this year was our new Cricut Solutions cartridges.
A classic Cricut cartridge (the type you’re all familiar with) contains 100 designs and 6 creative features—a/k/a a TON of awesome content. We were finding, however, that our average Cricut customer wasn’t using all of that content, yet it was still taking us several months to develop a cartridge and meet our customers’ cartridge requests.
So we’ve created a solution: Cricut Solutions cartridges.
These cool new cartridges contain an average of 50 designs and 2 creative features. They are themed cartridges that contain Cricut designs tailored to meet specific project needs. These condensed cartridges will help us respond to your needs faster, and they’re available at half the price. Yes folks, the suggested retail price is $49.99. Not too shabby, right?
There are eight Cricut Solutions cartridges total: 6 shape cartridges (Baseball, Soccer, Wedding, Camp Out, Home Accents, and Indie Art) and 2 font cartridges (Stone Script and Street Sign).
Cricut Solutions shape cartridges contain 50 shapes with Shadow and Blackout features, and Cricut Solutions font cartridges contain a complete alphabet set with Shadow and Shadow Blackout features. These cartridges also coordinate with other Provo Craft products, including the Street Sign cartridge that makes vinyl lettering for our impressive new Metal Street Signs.
Look for these in your favorite stores in late Spring!
We’ll still continue to make classic cartridges (such as our adorable new Pooh and Friends and Pooh Font Set cartridges), but we’ll make the Cricut Solutions cartridges an important part of our Cricut family.

What are your thoughts on creating a series of religious symbol cartridges? I'm not just talking about mainstream Christian, but also Jewish, Pagan, Celtic, Buddhist, Muslim, etc. They could offer specific symbols as well as phrases relevant to different holidays for that religion. In that way almost everyone could find something that appeals to their individual beliefs and tastes; as seemed to be the problem that Scherry addressed on Feb 19, 2008.
As a Unitarian Minister, who's working to further peoples’ religious tolerance thru learning, I would like to see that no one feels put out just because they can only find items pertaining to only one mainstream religion.

I have been reading other post and agree with them about not having a box with the cricut solution cartridges. I know you can buy empty boxes for them but, it is not the same as having the boxes that goes with your cartridges and the booklet that gives you ideas how to use the cartridge. The empty storage boxes are not cheap by the time you buy the cartridge then pay for the box you could buy the cartridge and the box for the same money.
It would be so nice for you to create a religious cartridge with Christion symbols that you could use for church purposes. Words: Jesus, prayer, thinking of you, praying for you,God bless you,praise,to God be the glory sing. Symbols: piano,organ,choir singing,church,cross,bible etc.
I know you have to appeal to the majority of the people but I think you would be surprised to see the response to this request.
You have done a good job. The Cricut Expresstion was a wonderful envention. Thanks for your consideration.

I would love to see more health care related symbols - nurse's hats, stethescopes, pills, capsules, eye charts, nurse's bag, RN, LPN etc. There are a lot of us nurses out there and we like to decorate our spaces and our scrapbooks! You could combine it with other common professions. On another note, I have some frustrations with my design studio. I have difficulty getting it to select an image I am working on. I often must click 4 or 5 times to find the right place to select the image. Also it always takes me back up to the top of the screen and when you are working on an image towards the bottom of the paper it is very frustrating to have to scroll back down over and over. I also wonder why it is so difficult to edit phrases? I noticed I had spelled a word that was welded wrong. I couldn't select the errant letter and delete it, I had to delete from the end of the word then re-weld all of it again. It would be nice too, to be able to take welded groups of letters and weld them with others as wholes. Instead you have to re-type and re-weld individual letters.

I own an embroidery machine, and have purchased computer software to pull my designs together into a new design, & I have to say the Cricut software is much cheaper. Right now I am experimenting with the trial version, and just with the George cartridge-there are so many things you can do with it. I have designed cards with different shape cutouts and even welded a shape onto the square to make a card with a shaped front. Then of course you can pull your designs askew to give them a variation or it makes your font look italicized. I think the full version of the software is in my future!

I would not get too excited about the Cricut Design Studio. It is really not worth the price. The only thing it allows you to do is weld the letters together of cartridges you already have. Then you cant make it just repeat the same cut over and over. You have to cut and paste. It is not near what the packaging explained it to be. Save yourself alot of heartache and regret and just buy a Wishblade or a Silouette. These machines allow you to cut ANYTHING you can find without having to buy cartridge after cartridge. You can use any true type font you can find. There are tons of free downloads. The only drawback is having to connect it to your computer, but a small price to pay for such versatility. I am selling all of my cricut and cricut products and just working with the Wishblade.

Laura, The Cricut DesignStudio (CDS) is not designed to work with Vista 64, however many of our customers have been able to use it without any problems. It is certainly worth trying to install. Because it is not meant to work with the 64-bit, we won't be able to service specific CDS issues on your laptop. Please contact us if we can answer any general questions you may have!

I just purchased a laptop and noticed it had vista 64. All of your specs say minimum of....vista 32. I've seen lot of confusion on this. Will CDS run on my new laptop or not? If not, will this be fixed? I went through the same thing with Wishblade, which I know is not your product, but it was so sad when it became unusable when I purchased a new laptop. It was actually the reason I gave up on the wishblade and switched to the expression and CDS. Matt Peterson, I think you need to re-read the fine print on that infomercial! The Cricut infomercial offers the Cricut for a "30 day trial" for $49.95 - that is not the total price! The product is great, and if you do your homework first, you can get it for a great price too.

I recommend not purchasing items from Provo Craft. I purchased the CRICUT in December and chose the FULL payment option. They took that full amount along with the price of additional cartridges that I purchased at that time. They have repeatedely charged my credit card for the $49.95. This is the 5th time now that they have charged this additional charge on my debit card. Key Bank has now issued a dispute with Provo Crafts over the repeated charges. I have emailed them, I have called them and everytime I am told it will be taken care of and that I will recieve a credit. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED. I assume I am not the only one out there that is being overcharged for this product. Companies that overcharge their customers should be held accountable. I reccommend that everyone look at your bank statements and make sure that you have not been overcharged.
Good luck on getting someone on the phone when you call. I have waited over an hour to speak with someone on April 21, 2008 and March 27, 2008.
I also emailed Provo Crafts concerning this and was sent back an email that said they would get back to me with information concerning my issue (A Standard Reply Email). I have never heard back.

I too have to admit that I was a little disappointed that the new cricut solutions cartridges did not come with storage boxes. I am at a lost with how to store them. I spent all day this Saturday look for something to store them in, visiting numerous stores that might carry such a thing that was similar to the regular cartridges’ boxes. Cost cutting at our expense?!?!? I, too, am very upset with the Solutions packaging! Where and when was this announced? I would have reconsidered any eager purcahse. I, too, don't know how to store mine along with the many others I own. Really, this is a slap in the face and a very degrading action by Provo Craft. Boxes should be fabricated and sent to all of us who have purchased the Solutions cartridges. While I'm complaining, whay haven't you include Happy New Year and Happy Easter and sentiments relevant to Easter in any of the cartridges?!?!!? Instead, you have all the Disney characters that many are not interested in. I'm sooooooooo disappointed.

If Provo Craft is trying to save money by not offering storage boxes for the new solutions cartridges, then that needs to be clear when you order it, AND they need to offer a storage system of some sort to keep the parts together (cartridge, keypad, booklet/design paper)...I have almost all of the cartridges, and I do have them nicely displayed on top of a bookshelf, but if there were a system to store them all in the same manner that would take up less space, I'm for it. I'd even be fine paying extra for the box to go with my baseball solutions cartridge, but it needs to be uniform storage for all the cartridges. I'm a little annoyed about having to keep my new baseball one in a plastic baggie at the moment!

I was excited to see two new fonts but really disappointed when they arrived to find no magnetic box closure and no booklet displaying all the cartridge can do. These changes have really reduced the value of this cartridge in my eyes and I feel I was overcharged. What is going to be done to protect the cartridge and overlay? Are there empty/blank magnetic closure boxes available? I'd like one sent to me.

Hurray, you're finally coming out with sports theme cartidges. I'm waiting for football and basketball - hope they're in the works. A cartridge with a variety on it would be nice also.

I am very excited to see the new Cricut cartridges. But rather upset with the Indie Art where skull and crossbones are mixed with a lovely little church and cross. I would wish that the are were separated so that one cartridge could be the skull and dice and such and another could be religious symbols that could be use with Church pictures. I would purchase a religious cartridge in a heartbeat but the Indie is too offensive. I sure that some will like it but the mixture of themes is surely offensive. Thanks for the new cartridges.

I have two kids that are in a bunch of sports. Having each sport on a seperate cartridge is going to make it unaffordable for me to use the product. Any way to combine some sports balls and a few sports "icons" on to one affordable cartridge?

Crystal--We still plan to make Classic Cricut cartridges, meaning cartridges like Paper Doll Dress Up that have 6 creative features and lots o' content. :)

But I do love all of the features to the other cartridges such as paper dolls, that is the BEST cartridge yet because it has so many different uses. Are you still going to make cartridges with that many options on them? I sure hope so!

I am curious to find out more about the Cricut decor images. You have them listed as "new" in products but do not give a description of exactly what they are. It would be useful to have a general product description. Are they pre-cut images or files so we can cut the images on our Cricut machines???? I am sure I am not the only person wondering!!!Looking forward to getting a reply. Cheers
